Under the hood, the base trims of the 2023 Explorer operate on a 2.3-liter Inline four-cylinder Turbo engine that produces a whopping 300 horsepower and 310 lb.-ft. of torque. At the same time, the trim King Ranch® has a 3.0-liter Twin-Turbo V6 engine that generates 400 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque. Although all trims can tow up to 5,300 pounds, the highest trim offers better performance. Furthermore, the King Ranch® has a fuel economy rating of 20 mpg in the city and 18 mpg on the highway.
